PROJECT PROPOSAL                                                                                                    ANNEXURE-I ENTITLED- “GENDER EQUITY AND EMPOWERMENT AWARENESS GENERATION OF DESTITUTE WOMEN “Manipur has more working women than any other state in India because India has the highest for working Women in the World. They include female workers at all levels of skill- from the surgeon and airline pilot to bus conductors and mental labourers. On the average however, women in Manipur (India) are socially, politically and economically weaker than men. From female feticide to sati- system including marriage, separation, divorce, adoption, rights and property succession, guardianship, legitimacy and even in custody women are the looser in this society from the ancient era.According to a recent report by the United Nations children’s fund (UNICEF) up to 50 million girls and women are missing from India’s population as a result of systematic gender discrimination in India. In most countries in the World, there are approximately 105 female births for every 100 males. In India there are less than 93 women for every 100 men in the population. Domestic violence can take many forms and variations and can happen once in a while or all at the same time. Domestic violence can be psychological abuse, social abuse. Financial abuse, physical abuse or assault or injury, sexual abuse or stalking. Many obstacles to the realization of women’s human rights in Manipur are social and cultural in nature, deeply rooted in the traditions of its communities. The result is female feticide and gradually lower ratio of women beings in Manipur. Moreover many a times structure fails to respond to the needs of women specially for women in difficult circumstance like widows, destitute and deserted women, women ex- prisoners, victims of sexual abuse and crimes, including those trafficked and rescued from brothels, migrants or refugee women who have been rendered homeless due to natural calamities like flood , cyclone. Earthquake, mentally challenged women, women victims of terrorist violence etc. The empowerment of women and gender equity depends on extensive awareness of the importance of women’s share in over all progress and give their honor and due respect as human , in this regards the proper knowledge of existing  law will help them to get their own rights. And equal importance is to provide primary need of shelter, food, clothing and care to the marginised women / girls living in difficult circumstances who are without any social economic support and emotional support. Rehabilitate them socially and economically through education, awareness, skill up gradation and personality development through behavioural training etc. To  arrange for specific clinical, legal and other support for women/ girls in need of those interventions by linking and networking with other organizations in both government and non- Government sectors on case to case basis, provide such other services as will be required for the support and rehabilitation to such women in distress.SSSTATE WIDE AWARENESS PROGRAM FOR GENDER EQUITY:-GEOGRAPHICAL AREA:- Manipur ( India ) in Nine Districts .DATE OF COMMENCMENT:-6 months from October-2011 to March-2011.DURATION AND LIKELY DATE OF COMPLETION:-It would be continuing program but the first phase would be likely to complete within 6 months, which targeted the awareness program for nine districts of Manipur..AIMS OF THE AWARENESS CAMP:-
