Findia 09 – an independent youth journalism project

As an interdisciplinary and international team of twelve students, pupils and young professionals we have been reporting directly from India for one month.

Along the stations of our project route the MDGs have always been in the centre of attraction. Trough personal field research, interviews, etc. we learned and reported e.g. about poverty in the slums of Mumbai, the lack of prospects for children - even if they can attend public schools - and UNDOC projects against sexual exploitation of women.

Our project platform www.findia09.com allowed us with text and video blogs and the whole portfolio of social media to share our experiences without delay. Cooperation with renowned Austrian and Asian quality papers, independent radio and an American Media NGO broadened our coverage.

Awareness rising and sustainable empowerment is more efficient than one-time donations. Therefore, community and partnerships are growing and a lot is still to come.
